Looking back at your preliminary tasl, what do you feel you have learntin the progression from it to the full product?
Firstly, in my preliminary task, my cover was bare, missing a lot of content vital to a magazine cover such as the issues number and date. As well as both of these things it was also lacking a main sell line to attract the audiences attention to a main article, more important than the others. In my preliminary, all the sell lines are the same size and grouped close together, whereas, on my final product, my main sell line is bold and my sell lines are placed either side of my model, helping draw the audience attention to the more important article related to my main sell line.
The masthead of my preliminary is dark and slightly blends in with the background, making it less likely that the audience will notice it, however for my final product I assured that the mast head was very large and bold, using a contrasting, bright colour to ensure that it was easily noticeable and readable, to encourage the audience to buy the magazine.
On my preliminary the photo I used did not frame the model very well, she appears small and is in the bottom half of the magazine only. To contrast this poor choice, I assured that the model was the dominant object on my final product, taking up most of the space and making sure the audience can easily recognise her.
I felt that my preliminary lacked any other attraction to the magazine rather other than the articles, so when I made my final product I decided to add a competition to my cover in the form of festival tickets in a banner, I chose festival tickets as I felt that this is something my audience would be interested in. I chose to use a banner as this is something used frequently in magazine that I felt my preliminary lacked.
My preliminary task was colourful and attractive, however it lacked many of the basics of a contents page. The text is sparse, the audience would not understand what most of the articles were about other than what is given in the title, in actual magazines, more than this would be given so I ensured that in my final product I gave proper, detailed kickers for my articles.
The layout of my preliminary was simple but in a way was too simple as it looks very blocky and child like, something which would not be appropriate for a music magazine for my target audience so I assured I made the layout slightly more complex, with banner headers and did not simply separate everything into clear boxes.
Who would be the audience for your media product?

1. Photograph of 'alternative' fashion style that my audience would wear as they experiment with new and alternative fashion.
2. Headphones that my audience would use as they are colourful but at the same time are highly recommmended for music experience, which they are very involved in.
3. Pop Recs is the kind of shop that my audience will use as it sells all kinds of music in several forms and is a venue that new bands can play at, as well as being a coffee shop.
4. Is an image for two males playing instruments, this is because my audience would own instruments and experiement with their own music as well as finding new music from others.
5. This is a photograph of a small gig as my audience would enjoy smaller gigs as they are normally new music.
6. Soundcloud is a music website that gives users a chance to listen to new music, this is similar to my magazine and is something my audience would use.
7. BBC Radio 1 has some new music shows and this is something that my audience would listen to.
8. In terms of cinema my audience would be more interested in Art House cinema as this relates to their music taste of less popular and new.
9. My audience will frequently use ticketmaster too book gigs

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Although NME and my magazine are similar and this is why I chose this company, I believe that my magazine is different enough for it to not clash too much with NME but still benefit from being its sister magazine

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My audience would mainly be teenagers & young adults however they do not have to have a particular social group, they just need to enjoy discovering new music. So to target my audience I just had to adapt my magazine to the social group of 'teenagers & young adults', this meant using a teenage model for my cover in neutral clothing, not conforming to any extreme social groups but instead to teenagers in general.
I stuck to a simple common fashion of a bright colour and casual dress which is very common for teenage girls however the content I included such as new artists and festival tickets would narrow my audience down the the group that enjoys this kind of music.
