For the cover of my magazine I conformed to a lot of the normal conventions of magazines. Using a bold and white masthead to ensure it stands out against the main image and background colour easily, making sure that my audience will be able to identify the magazine straight away, this also makes it easier to attract an audience as the brand will become more recognisable.
On the cover of magazine the model is holding eye contact with the audience, this is a way to help the audience become more engaged with the cover and therefore more likely to buy it. I followed the convention to ensure that it was easy for my audience to become familiar with the cover and therefore want to buy it.
I used a large main sell line on my cover to help the audience associate the main article with the model on the cover therefore making the main article more attractive. This is a convention that most magazines follow as it helps guide the attention of the audience and encourage them to buy the magazine because of the the interest created about the main article by using the photo to encourage curiosity.
The tagline for my magazine, just underneath the masthead, is present on many magazines and helps the audience understand what the magazine contains and its purpose. I followed this convention to help my audience understand what my magazine was all about as it may not be immediately clear.

For my contents page I stayed with most of the conventions of classical music magazines. I used two main images to help guide the audience to the most important articles, using the larger image to match the cover which helps to keep consistent interest. The photo I used was also quite similar so it is immediately recognisable.
I used an editors note to help the audience connect more with the magazine, therefore encouraging them to buy it more frequently. The editors note and editor photo are a great way to keep an audience included in the magazine and lets the audience know the team really care about their readers, its a tool that a lot of manginess use.
Following another convention of contents pages, I used kickers with the article titles to give the audience some information about the articles, helping the audience navigate to information they would be interested in, this is a convention used by all magazines as it is the most effective way to help organise magazines
For my double page spread I also followed a lot of conventions. Firstly, I used a full page image to help the article appear less text based and break up the amount of reading the audience feels like they have to do, therefore increasing the chances of them reading the article. This is also technique that magazines use the help the audience associate the other articles and photos previously used.
Using a pull quote to also break up the text is a convention used frequently however I decided to break the convention of using a quote from the article and adding an addition quote. This is to give the reader extra information rather than repeating text straight from the article. Using the space more effectively.
I also used a kicker before the main body of my article to give the audience an idea what the main article is about without them having to start to read a huge block of text, this is a tool used in a lot of articles including the example given.
