Rationale Quesitons

Colour Usage:  I will be using combinations of back, white and greens on a background of grey. The green are fresh to represent some of the new music in the magazine and are also bright enough to attract the attention of the audience. The colours used in the text and photos contrast the grey background and ensure they are seeable/ readable easily.

Image Usage: The cover image and double page spread images will all be of the same artist, these images will be photographs taken in a photo shoot style, with the artist in the same outfit but in varying poses. The outfit being worn will be in keeping with the magazines general colour scheme and focus on greens. The images will be either mid-shots or full body shots/ long shots. Poses will include the classic teenage girl pose of lying on the floor with head resting in hands and legs lifted at the back, and a high angle shot with the artist looking at the camera with her hands behind her back. These poses will reflect the youth of the artist. The photos edges will be soft to reflect angelic innocence, a further indication of youth.

Text Usage:  The text used in my magazine will vary, the informative text will be formal and the interview will use informal language. This is to assure that my magazine will appear professional but the informal language will reflect the ease of conversation with the artist. For my article title I will be using a pun on the artists name. The artists name is Amelia Daws and the article will be about how she made her way into the music industry so I thought the title ‘Opening Daws’ would be appropriate. This should add a light feel to the article. For the other article titles I will try to use devices such as alliteration and assonance.

Layout and Font: I prefer a more organized layout so I can guide my audience’s attention more fluently to the things I want them to focus on more. I will have very little blank space on my contents page however as I have a white background it will appear to be more spaced out than it is.
